Privacy Policy

The BANCO INTERNACIONAL DE COSTA RICA – MIAMI AGENCY, HEREIN NAMED AS “WE” “BICSA” KNOWS HOW IMPORTANT OUR PRIVACY POLICY IS FOR YOU. As a result of this, we have adapted the following policy on Privacy, as part of our continuing commitment to give top quality service to clients.

1. Recognizing your expectations for Privacy

We recognize that you expect privacy and security in your personal and financial matters. We understand the necessity of protecting confidential information that you have given us. Under these conditions, we maintain standards and procedures to avoid any incorrect use of this information.

 

2. Our collection, storage and use of information about you

We gather, store and use information that is not public, about you, only when we have reasons to believe that this will help us administer our business or to offer you products, services and other opportunities. We gather and store information about you only for specific business reasons and we always tell you why we are gathering and storing said information, but only when you request such. Using the information to protect and administer your files, accounts and funds; to comply with certain laws and regulations; to help us design and better our products and services; and to understand your financial needs and to offer you products and services of superior quality. We gather information that is not public about you from sources that include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Information that we receive about you by means of requests or other forms, such as name, address, social security number, passport, or identification number, capital and income.
  • Information about your transactions with us, our related offices, or other sources, such as account balances, payment history, participants in your transactions and use of your credit card.

3. Up to date information maintained by us

We have procedures that assure us that the financial information that we have about you is precise, up to date and complete, in accordance with commercial practices. We also have, procedures to respond to your request to correct inaccurate information in a timely way. Even though Federal and State laws now require many of these procedures, we have put into action, additional procedures to maintain exact financial data up to date and complete, including procedures to bring in new data and eliminate the old data.

 

4. Restricting employee access to information

We have procedures and levels of security which limit access to your personal information to those employees which need it for their work. We ensure that our employees are conscious of the importance of confidentiality and privacy, by means of normal operational processes, special training programs and the Ethical Code of BICSA. We take the disciplinary measures needed in order to enforce compliance to the obligations of our employees in relation with privacy.

 

5. Security procedures to protect information.

We maintain adequate practices and procedures to help us avoid unauthorized access to confidential information about you. We test our technology and keep it up to date in order to improve the protection of information about you and to assure ourselves of its integrity.

 

6. The release of information to affiliates

BICSA can share information about you that you have provided us or that BICSA obtains as a result of its transactions or other activities, with its affiliates. Our affiliates can help us in providing services to the client related to his accounts and transactions. In order to facilitate said services, it may by possible that we release information about your account and transactions and affiliates.

 

7. Restrictions as to the release of information to persons outside of the

financial institution.

We do not release specific information about your account or other personal information to unaffiliated third parties, outside of BICSA, for their independent use, unless:

 

a) you request or authorize it;

b) the information is provided to help complete a transaction

initiated by you.

c) the information be supplied to a credit office of good

reputation, or a similar report entity or

d) the release be in another way, legally permitted or required.

 

8. Maintaining privacy in business relationships with third parties

Occasionally we find it necessary to supply personal information to third parties, such as sellers or service companies, that we contract, in order for them to prepare their request for checks or to supply aid or service to one or more of our products. These sales people and service companies are committed to protect our confidential information about you and must, besides, adhere to pertinent laws.

 

9. Disseminating our commitment of privacy with you

We wish for you to understand our commitment to a policy of personal privacy and our use of the information. For this reason, we have prepared this policy and will continue supplying you with it on an annual basis.

 

This policy applies only to the products and services supplied by BICSA that are mainly used for personal, family or home use and not for businesses. We reserve the right to change this policy at any moment, as well as other provisions related to it.
